Royals and Kickers Future End Match Deadlocked
Early Lead Not Enough to Earn Northern Virginia Victory in Richmond
The Northern Virginia Royals were unable to hold a two goal late in Saturday night’s match, allowing the Richmond Kickers Future to earn the 3-3 tie.   The even result is the third draw the Royals have earned on the road so far this season.

Northern Virginia seemed destined to control the Future from the start, scoring two goals in the initial ten minutes of play. Matt Brady scored from a Tony McPeak assist in the first minute and McPeak found the net himself six minutes later on a feed from Adam Wilson.

The Richmond home side answered in the 26th minute on a Boris Gatzky goal on a pass from Bobby Fogelsong.

The Royals wasted little time in answering, as defender Richard Strong struck true on a Grady Renfrow assist in the 29th minute, earning Northern Virginia the 3-1 half time lead.

The Future failed to accept a home loss, and surged forward in the second half to earn the draw. Unassisted goals from Fogelsong and Gatzky gained the home team the draw, earning both teams a single point on the night.

Northern Virginia returns home in two weeks on Saturday, June 28th, to face the Reading Rage at Washington Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia. Match time is set for 7:00PM.
