Nicole Megaloudis Foundation Partners with Majestics
Northern Virginia to Play Active Role in Foundation Efforts
Long known for their philanthropic endeavors in the Washington DC metro area, the Nicole Megaloudis Foundation announced a partnership agreement with the Northern Virginia Majestics of the United Soccer Leagues W-League. With both organizations registered as 501(c) non-profit, the two groups will work together to raise funds to provide need-based scholarship assistance to those students who demonstrate leadership qualities in the community.
As part of the mutual agreement, the Majestics will provide an additional platform to promote and advertise fundraising efforts throughout Northern Virginia. The Majestics will also work hand-in-hand with Foundation charitable events and activities throughout the year.
The Nicole Megaloudis Foundation is a non-profit organization formed in 2004 in memory of Nicole Megaloudis, a Virginia Commonwealth University freshman who died in an auto accident on her way to the school earlier in the year. Nicole was an outstanding player on the VCU women’s soccer team and an inspiration to all those that knew her. Her mother, Gail Megaloudis Rongen founded the organization to help students in need of financial assistance attend and graduate college by providing scholarships based on financial need and leadership qualities.
“You don’t find many people with the compassion and drive to impact a community like Gail (Rongen),” commented General Manager Tim Schweitzer. “She pours her heart and soul into creating opportunities for those less fortunate, I can think of no better way to honor her daughter.”
“Like myself, many people never had the opportunity to meet or know Nicole,” continued Schweitzer. “Yet the Foundation stands as such a shining example of everything Nicole exemplified, she remains a huge part of the soccer and athletic community.”
